photo bomb

On this rainy leap day, I thought I would just share some photographs of Henry.

Although Bear is not looking at the tv in this picture, he does seem to enjoy this channel for baby programming. Its probably way too early to start using tv to entertain my child but sometimes this mom just needs a moment to unload the dishwasher...

Off on a walk with my buddy Graham. Somehow we forgot to photograph the two boys together. Next walk for sure.

Watching Seinfeld with Dad. He was actually watching Jerry and Elaine. Like father, like son...

Hanging out in my new bib from Auntie Rita! Now give me some real food mom!

Blurry but Henry has started laughing and become super smiley. Its amazing!

Loving on my new wubba nubs from Ella and the rest of the Herrins

Henry's "Blue Steel" Face

Just in case you think he is always happy. He is not. Henry does get fussy. Generally when we are trying to eat dinner. I know understand the whole eating in shifts concept.

Henry has found his hands. I just hope he doesn't come a thumb sucker. Kyle and I both sucked our thumb for a long time. In second grade or so, they had to install a thumb pricking device to keep me from  doing it.

Sunday Funday at Piedmont Park. It was Henry's first "picnic"

More from our afternoon in the park. How incredible has this winter been? I mean has winter even come yet? No complaints here!

Morning playtime with Dad

This was the other morning. Talk about bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

Hanging out with Kristy, rocking his new sailor hat. Just wait until you see the whole outfit this summer. It is adorable. Thanks for the outfit and coming to see us in Atlanta!

Hope y'all are enjoy this extra day! I should be studying but wanted to share. Happy Leap Day!

friday nights

I have just put Henry down for the night and I am thinking about how much my life has changed. You know you are a mom when you are just happy that your child has pooped. Yes, I went there but blogging is not pretending life is all roses and puppy kisses. Sometimes you are just happy that your child has pooped.

Between constipation and acid reflux, Henry has not been the happiest of campers the past couple of days. Yes, please forgive me, I am going on about Henry's day and it does involve talking about his bowel movements. (This blog is more for me than it is for you)  The nurse recommended to try a juice/water mix. (I am sure moms out there are like duh! but this is all new to me) First we tried white grape juice and water. I wish I could have photographed his faces. Henry does not like white grape juice, well at least not at this point.  So round 2, apple juice and water. After a couple questioning sucks from the bottle, the apple juice mixture was down the hatch. Our son likes apple juice.

So back to Friday nights. Tonight we all were supposed to go to a birthday party for a friend. Henry and I didn't make it. We tried to but I had planned too much and then Henry had a rough bout of acid reflux. But we did it to the Atlanta Multiples Children Consignment Sale. (go Aunt Tina for an incredible consignment sale). Henry will be rocking a new(to him) preppy wardrobe.

This was my Friday night, attending a consignment sale with my mom and Henry.  Yes, Friday nights have changed. Yes, I am thankfully that my son likes apple juice and the resultant effect.  Yes, our lives have changed but the two hour cuddle party we had today was just about perfection.  Sorry that we missed celebrating with our friends but please know one day, we will all make it to a party although probably not on time.....

you tell me

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a wedding shower for friends Mary Logan and David. The shower was given by the groom's good family friends. While Mary Logan is one of my besties and I am so honored to be a bridesmaid, I have actually known the groom longer. David and I grew up around the corner from each other. So at this celebration for the two, I knew several of the hosts. After I introduced myself and said that I was Jo Ann and Tom's daughter, the host said that it was very clear that I was my parent's child. I hear this a lot. I look like both and love that there is a part of my parents in me. But this got me to thinking about Henry. Of course, when he was first born, we all looked for distinct traits but with newborns it can be hard to tell.  I am not sure how old Kyle and I are in the photographs but we look young. So who do you think Henry looks like?

Baby Kyle with his mom aka DeeDee

Me with my mom aka Jojo

Me and Henry
Selfishly I chose a picture where I look better. Henry is much cuter than this picture depicts. And it has been a couple of weeks since this picture which reminds me I am way overdue on some thank you notes.....

Pretty hard to say at this time. I know Henry has a couple of my traits - slightly cleft chin and Lambert ears. The ears must have been a recessive gene because I don't have them but my mom and my brother do. Henry's traits from Kyle? His lips for sure and hopefully his eye color. Henry, if you end up with your mom's brown eyes, you will be just as handsome as if you had your dad's hazel eyes.  Your mom just has a thing for dark hair and light eyes, I mean after all, I did fall for your dad.

As Toppy (my dad) said "Henry looks like himself". The future will tell us if he favors his mom or dad.

love

While I was pregnant with Henry, I remembered asking my mom "What if my baby is ugly?"  I know, what an amazingly terrible question to ask.  Of course, my mom looked at me as if I was crazy.  In my head, I was worried over how our features would come together. Who would this baby favor? Would I make an ugly child?  Yes, this is a serious case of vanity. Can I blame it on pregnancy brain?  Probably not.

Needless to say out came our child and it was love at first sight. Look at this child that we created, we could not love Henry anymore.  The immediate rush of intense love was amazing. Between the epidural and this super high of love for our child had me instantly wanting more children.  I looked at Kyle and said I can't wait to have more.  I cannot wait for Henry to have brothers and sisters.  Thankfully, Kyle looked at me and completely understood and agreed. Love of your child is an amazing experience and we are so fortunate to have Henry is our lives. People think I am a little nutty when I say that I wanted another kid twenty minutes after Henry was born but then again, I missed the pain of delivery due to my c-section. Although if you had asked me 12 hours later when I had to get on my feet for the first time, more children might not have been my first thought....

So my petty fears of an attractive child were truly silly.  Henry is perfect and we think he just a little "gerber" baby. So this year for Valentine's day, we stayed at home and played with our child. And even though Henry was extremely fussy all Valentine's day, I would not have changed it for the world.

So Happy (very late) Valentine's Day!

please note: future children are desired. That is exactly it, they are desired for the future. Meaning not anytime soon.

Busy Little Bee

As Henry is getting older, we are starting to resume our normal social life. It has become very busy, or so it seems, as we get out more and more. Kyle and I are starting to get with the program, adding an extra 30 minutes to get out the door on time, scheduling outings during nap times, and occasionally things go off without a hitch.  Henry does have this knack of getting fussy right in the middle of check out at the grocery store. The workers of Publix are so sweet and help me get to my car as quick as possible. I used to be the kind of person who always took out her own groceries but these days an extra set of hands to deal with the groceries while I try to soothe Henry is very welcomed! So here are a few pictures of our "busy" social life.

Henry went to visit his cousins. Jojo babysat Henry so that I could take one of my licensing exams. (Thanks mom!) Studying with a newborn around is not easy but at least I wasn't suffering from severe pregnancy brain. Great picture of Henry with his cousin Elizabeth and Jojo. A keeper for sure!

We also made a trip out to Powder Springs for a shower for Henry.  Henry got to meet all of DeeDee's friends and well as some of my friends. It was a beautiful shower and Henry received so many wonderful things and lots of much appreciated diapers!

Aunties ML & Kelly came over before stealing me for dinner at Holeman & Finch

Henry got to meet his friend Ella for the first time and cannot wait for the arrival of Herrin #2. Ella was so good with Henry and she is going to be a great big sister!  We are lucky to have many of our close friends in Atlanta and more are coming! It was great to have a Friday night dinner at Fellini's with our friends Allison & Scott, all the Herrins, and Erin & Cooper.  We didn't get a pictures of all the boys, even though we have them to thank for introducing us. Oh well, they were too busy inside talking about who knows what. I am sure they were reminiscing about some band party at the good ole Kap Sig House. Oh how Friday nights have changed.....

We forgot to take pictures but this past Saturday we celebrated with Kyle's friend, Phil, for his 30th birthday! It was a wonderful party and Henry was just perfect.  Well until we got him in the car and he cried almost all the way home, oh well, it stopped us from getting a Steak & Shake milkshake. Not that I need a milk shake but it certainly did sound yummy.  Henry had a great time at the party where he slept most of the time in DeeDee's arms giving this mom and dad plenty of time to catch up with friends. Which is great for me, I am so ADD sometimes that it is hard for me to hold a conversation if Henry is in my arms. So thanks DeeDee and Grandpa for let us have some adult time. It has been a wonderful first two months with our growing boy.

p.s. too good not to share, who doesn't love a tubby baby....

the Faces of Henry

As Henry gains weight and gets older day by day, he has started to get more personality. So I have been attempting to get all of his faces that he has made thus far. It is amazing to seem him smile and pout, how natural and innate those facial expressions are.
