Henry @ 4 months

So what is Henry's personality like at 4 months old?

- verbalizing more and more. Mainly ehhs but also heys.
- pouty face is still in full effect before a fussy fit
- trying to rollover but his shoulder and arm gets in the way
- very serious baby, always taking in his surroundings.
- well he is serious but Henry does laugh. Mainly just for Mom and Dad, who now act ridiculously silly to get out smiles and giggles.....
- loves playing super baby. Henry starts giggling on the countdown to blast-off and thoroughly enjoys "turbulence"
- loves to stand and walk with assistance. Not sure that he is going to crawl as he hates tummy time so but we are working on it.
- still favors his right side when sleeping although the new pillow, boppy noggin nest, seems to be correcting that, so hopefully Henry doesn't end up in a helmet to reshape his head.
- smiles when Mommy and Daddy get home from work. Talk about serious validation in life, how can you not be happy when your child just gets excited that you are home. Even when he has been having fun all day with Talia.
- turning into just a so-so sleeper. Before going back to work, Henry was sleeping through the night consistently.  The other night, he woke up at 12 and 3, oh how do we get through those first weeks of no sleep. Esh, work the next day required some serious caffeine.
- loving his "new" stroller seat that let's him look out when we take our strolls.
- hypnotized by daddy's red plaid robe.
- weaning off the acid reflux medication (yay!)
- has some serious eczema, poor thing
- favorite toy - "Chico" the monkey. It vibrates and he loves it.
- teething, just teething. Haven't seen a tooth yet but we have serious drooling issues as well Henry is constantly chewing on everything including his pacifier.

enough writing, time for pictures!!!

Happy (very late) Four Months Henry!

Happy Four Months Henry!

So this is very late and I wanted to re-take his 4 month picture as he wasn't particularly happy while trying to get this shot. But work and life has been busy, so it looks like we are going to have a grumpy 4 month picture of Henry.

Easter Week

Not surprising but our holidays seem to last a week or so... Oh well, we always have lots of fun celebrating with family.  First, we celebrated Easter the week before at Jojo and Toppy's house. Easter egg dying and hunting, badminton, dinner and the new Muppet DVD, needless to say, Henry slept well that night.

Henry's Easter Beach Bag + goodies, we are all ready for Cottage 84 this summer.

Playing outside, enjoying the beautiful weather.

All the kids watching the Muppets. So this is how Kyle and I would look with five children....doesn't look so bad if I do say so myself.

Reality: our sweet family of three. Henry "found" his first easter egg!

Special Guest Visitor this week: Great Uncle Mike who was in town for the Masters

So when Easter finally came around, we celebrated with DeeDee & Grandpa

the Easter Bunny(s) went a little overboard this year....

"are you really going to make me wear shoes when I can't even walk yet?"

and to top of all the festivities...
Henry and Daddy watch Bubba win the Masters.

p.s. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Henry prefers to just hangout in a diaper, look at his dad. :) They are portable heat pumps! It is going to be a hot summer for my two men.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  We have had a wonderful Easter and Henry certainly raked it in. Good thing he is too young to get overly spoiled.  Easter pictures will come soon but I had to quickly share this side by side of Kyle and Henry in the same outfit at the same age. So precious! Henry and Kyle definitely share the same handsome smile.

Henry - Week 16, Mommy - Week One

So my first week of work is over, well hopefully. For those who don't know, an average week for an architect is closer to 50 to 60 hours a week than 40 hours. No one said this was going to be easy, not that I am complaining. Back after week one, I am feeling pretty good, well actually really good. On my first day back, I got my final email from Ruth Reece at the Georgia Secretary of State. Like every other intern architect post an exam, you check your email religiously, waiting for that letter to confirm whether you have passed or not. So on my first day back at work, I got the email. I received my final email from Ruth, I had just passed the seventh exam. I am officially a registered architect. So it was hard to be upset about leaving Henry when I was proving to myself that I can be successful as a mom and as a professional.  Henry has been my study buddy through out this examination procedure, he even went with me for the first four exams (in utero).

So I have just finished my first week of work and owe a couple of thank yous.  Thank you to my in-laws, Debbie and Duane and Uncle Mike for watching Henry on Monday. I know y'all had a busy day but it was comforting to have Henry with family my first day back at work.  Thank you to my husband, who has put up with some serious craziness the past few weeks. Thank you to our new nanny, Talia, who keeps me well informed throughout the day with videos, texts, and photographs.  I mean what did people do before the days of smart phones! Thank you to Henry, who is acclimating to all these changes.

And speaking of changes....Look who can hold up his own bottle. Well after half of it is gone.  This photograph is one of many from Talia. I'll spare you the ones of Henry's dirty diaper.... Yes, dirty diaper. You know you are a mom when you are excited about a picture of a dirty diaper. Constipation is a serious matter.

back to work

So this day has finally come. I am headed back to work in the morning.  To say that I have mixed emotions is a complete understatement. I realize that tomorrow, perhaps this whole week, whole month, is going to be rough, an adjustment period. But I know that I have had 16 amazing weeks with Henry. The first month of Henry's life, I was stir crazy.  But after that month, I settled into a happy routine of walking, light errands and playing with Henry. To make that time even sweeter was the addition of Kyle who has also spent a fair amount of time at home with us.  We have had precious family time and have been thankful that we could have this time with Henry. The growth from day 1 to week 16 is nothing less than amazing. I cannot wait to see Henry grow, day by day.  So while I have "back to work" jitters tonight, my mind tomorrow will be on Henry. Here are the faces of Henry that I will miss all day, the ones I cannot wait to get home to and enjoy.

Back to work in the morning....
